Subject : VERY new to veneering - advice would be appreciated

I only did my first trial of vac bag veneering today and am pleased with the outcome. However the reason I started is that I am making some rectangular flat panels but with rounded over edges. I appreciate that I can't wrap the veneer all the way underneath but is it possible to take it over a 90 degree curve to a flat underside? The panels are 8" x 10" and 1/2" thick.

Many thanks in the hope that someone can advise me

Regards
Paul

One of Darryl Keil's videos demonstrated veneering of curved surfaces, including coves and roundovers. Both of his videos are very good background information and I can recommend them without hesitation if you are still gaining familiarity and experience with vacuum veneering and working with veneers. Another very good video is one by Paul Schurch. There is some overlap between the two authors but much that is not. All three would be good investments.

If you elevate your panel up off the platen a couple of inches with a piece of rigid styrofoam or something, keeping it back from the round over edge an inch or so, you should be able to tuck the bag and veneer around the radius.
