Subject : Veneering over moisture resistant mdf (Medex)?

I am working with a designer that wants me to make a decorative veneer pattern for a bathroom floor. It will be inlaid into the tile floor. The bathroom is on a slab,so it will sit on concrete.Since it goes in a bathroom, moisture is a concern. My question is,what would be the best substrate?I am thinking Medex.I have never veneered over Medex,or any other moisture resitant material. Is there a risk with adhesion issues, since the material is moisture resistant, will certain glues not adhere, like PVA's and plastic resin glues, since they are made up from water?Or will scuffing the surfaces eliminate the concern?

Personally I would not want any involvement with a proposal to put veneer on a bathroom floor. Even if adhesive and substrate won't be harmed by moisture, can't imagine the finish not being scratched at some point allowing moisture to get under the finish and causing havoc.

You might have to simply get some of the considered substrate and make some adhesion tests.

If you have to put veneer on a floor I would use MDO as the substrate rather than Medex. Give the surface a good scuffing up with 80 grit.
