I purchased some Unibond 800 from you a few months back. I'm finding a lot of bubbles in my finished marquetry pieces, some I've had to just discard. I can't figure out what's happening. I use a heating pad to keep the work warm while pressing. Is it important to keep it VERY warm? I'm wasting a lot of veneer and valuable time. BTW, I am mixing the Unibond about 3 to 1 versus 4 to 1 hoping it will set faster.

May I suggest a phone call. Sometimes a conversation will get to the heart of the matter much quicker than by messaging. I will add this, more is not better when it comes to the catalyst. Dont go over 4 to 1 by volume. As long as you're over 70 degrees you are good. Are you applying enough glue? Do you have a sheet of rubber or something else to deal with the uneven thickness issues of marquetry pressing?

I've been mixing it 3 to 1 in the past with good success, however, I'll go to 4 to 1 next time. This time of year it's hard to keep my shop at 70 or more. Like I said, I'm using a heating pad to keep it warm. As for the uneven thickness, I use a burlap material...or something like it (white)which is what Paul Schurch recommended. I have a piece in the press now and if it doesn't work, I'll call. I'll probably also wait until the spring thaw to do any more also. BTW, I sized the substrate this time too. I'll try anything at this point! Thanks for your help.
