This Compact 100 has a lot of hours on it. But has been idle for a few years. I did a vacuum check last night and it was at 16". I took it apart, and found a lot of black grime, perhaps the diaphragm is falling apart. After I cleaned it and got it back together, the best it would do is 22". Also, when I turn it off, the pressure drops pretty quick.

I did pay special attention to the flat metal reed. It seems to be clean underneath and flat.

Do I need to replace the diaphragm? Add some gasket sealer to the edges? Buy a new pump? Call Darryl?

Thanks, Carl

We actually talked over the phone but for the sake of the readers here I will repeat what I said. 22"HG is perfectly acceptable for the C100 pump. They normally top out at about 24"HG and Carl was a little over 1,000ft in elevation which reduces what the pump can pull.

There was probably something caught in the reed valves which would reduce max vacuum level
