In the past I have made curved panels in a vac bag for loudspeaker cabinets using multiple layers of 1/8" mdf or other materials such as Neatform BendyMDF, EconoKore etc.

The rest of this cabinet will be 3/4" baltic birch ply so I would like to end up with a 3/4" thick curved panel which has similar density and stiffness. I see Curvolutions now sells Italian bending poplar online (I can't get it locally) and am considering trying it. Is bending poplar multiple layers of poplar veneer or is it poplar over something like a lightweight luan core.

Thanks and regards,

Dennis

Dennis,

1/8" Italian bending ply is three layers of all poplar. Very nice quality stuff in my opinion. When all glued up it will look fairly similar to baltic birch.
