I own your vacuum pressing book and think it's very well written and helpful.

On the excellent accompanying DVD you name the vacuum container you use to demonstrate wood penetpration using blue-dyed water. Unfortunately I can't understand what you say. How is this jar called and where can I get one? Also can such a glass container withstand 25 inHg?

Also on page 24 you show a platen sleeve. Are those available seperately?

Martin,

That container is a vacuum marinator for marinating meats and vegetables. You can get it from Amazon, here is the link.

http://www.amazon.com/FoodSaver-T02-0050-05-Marinator-4-Quart-Canister/dp/B00005OTXS/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1310135512&sr=8-3

Its made out of thick plastic so no concern about breakage. What do you want it for anyway?

Platen sleeves can be purchased separately and are on our order page.

Glad you like the new book/DVD and find it useful.

Thanks for the quick answer Darryl.

I thought I could use the vacuum marinator for potting electric guitar pickups i.e. putting them in hot wax to replace any air inside the coil. But since it is made of plastic I don't think it's a good idea to heat the container.

I found the platen sleeves, thanks.
