Last week the Katrina trailers were back in the news with lots of reference to "very hazardous formaldehyde."

Can anyone address how exposure to even a large veneered panel in a house, glued with urea formaldehyde, compares to these trailers? I don't even know how formaldehyde was incorporated in the trailers and on what scale.

thanks.

Formaldehyde substitute ?

Most know there is some serious health risk & issues using formaldehyde glue.
On the other hand, most will agree this is also known as the best hard adhesive, creep free to use for some veneer application !

Not much is known or said about any “as good or better” adhesive that is health approved and could substitute it !?!
Anyone care / can direct us as to what can we substitute this with ??
Robert ;o)

I'm still not sure the glue we use, in the quantity we use, compares with the "Katrina trailers." That's why I posed the question. I don't know how the formaldehyde was incorporated in those trailers, or in what quantities. My expectation is that in urea formaldehyde glue the formaldehyde is tightly bound in the cured product, and the quantity is so small as to be negligible. But I'd like some feedback from someone knowledgeable.
