I need to put some bird's eye maple veneer onto a metal aluminum strip about 1 1/2" wide. The strip will be bent around a 90 degree radius corner. If I glue the veneer onto the metal prior to bending it, will the veneer crack? Should I pre-bend the metal first?

David,

I think you will want to bend the metal and then veneering. The chances of cracking or fizzuring the veneer by attaching it first to the flat metal is fairly high.

Thanks Darryl. This isn't something I can put in the press. What would be best to glue the veneer onto the metal?
