I am making a veneered panel to hang on a wall and want to incorporate honeycomb to keep the weight down. I know Vacupress sells the honeycomb, but would it be economical or even practical to have it shipped cross-country? I would be interested in the 1" thick material to make a 4'x5' panel.

Also a few other questions regarding this construction. Can the 1" honeycomb be stacked to get a 2" or more thickness? What glue should be used to adhere the 1/4" veneer substrate to the honeycomb?

We ship it all across the country and if you want to find out what the shipping cost would be just give us a call.

Honeycomb can be stacked as long as you put a separator sheet between the layers of honeycomb. Honeycomb is best glued with a rigid glue like urea resin glue(Unibond 800) or epoxy.

If you want resin coated honeycomb, Vacu Press is the only source I know for quantities less than a boxcar.
I like to use urea formaldehyde with the honeycomb because this glue provides a sufficient working time.
I think Vacu Press has a tips sheet that can be mailed with the honeycomb to help you get started. The honeycomb cuts very smoothly and easily on the tablesaw if you need to make pieces.
