Subject : dying Unibond glue black

I'm veneering with ebony. Can I dye the Unibond glue black? I bought the darker resin but just in case of of any "mistakes" the black colored dyed Unibond would be an insurance policy. I tried rit fabric dye and it turned it black but I'm concerned with the glues integity.

Good question. I'm hoping that Darryl has an answer.

I use Transtint dye to safely dye epoxy without compromising the bond.

I'm guessing that Unibond will react similarly.

You can always ask Jeff Jewitt at Homestead Finishing if he has any experience with this combination.

Tom,

Yes, you can tint Unibond with Rit fabric dye. Most any powdered dye that is designed to dissolve in water or alcohol will work.
