Subject : multiple pieces/ glue set time

I'm new to vacuum forming and i have a question about pressing multiple pieces and the set/ cure time of the Unibond 800. This relates to chair seats and backrests. My question is this;

once i have one or two pieces in the bag being pressed is it possible to set up another group of pieces open the bag put new forms in and begin pressing again?

As unlikely as this seems I have a total of thirty forms to press in a relatively short period of time and would love to figure out a way to stream line this part of the process. My bag is 49" by 97" so it can hold many pieces the problem is the open time of the adhesive.

Thanks in advance.

Drew,

Unlike PVA glues that have "tack", which allows you to put more in the bag after a certain length of time, Unibond 800 is a chemical reaction set which requires full pressure until you take the parts out, especially with bent lamination work.

The best way to speed things up is to add heat. At 90 to 100 degrees Unibond 800 will set much much faster.

Unibond 800 has a fairly long open work time, especially if the glue itself is chilled before mixing. This way you could put a few forms in the bag at the same time.

Those two pieces to the puzzle are very helpful. I had considered using a heat blanket to increase set times, but refrigerating the glue is going to make an enormous difference.

Thanks
