Wondering if there would be a problem with using unibond 800 on veneer inside a humidor. I want to use it because of the 70% humidity, I think it will hold up better then a cold press glue. I’m veneering tiger maple on the outside of the case and a maple backer on the inside, the inside will be lined with ¼” Spanish cedar over the maple backer. I'm worried about a smell or taste transferring to the cigars. Anyone have any insight on this.

Thanks, Pat

Pat,

Almost all of the free formaldehyde leaves the glue line within 24hrs once it out of the press, plus there would be a very small amount anyway in a humidor. If you let it sit a few more days to get the trace amounts out you should be in good shape. I cant imagine you would get any odor transfer to the cigars. Of course I have not made a humidor myself so I cannot say absolutely.

The other option is to use epoxy although it will have a certain amount of off gassing as well.

Thanks, that was the answer I was looking for.
