I am completely new to curved veneering and have previous experiance using only Conbond 690 contact with horrible results. The project is as follows; Laminate Walnut burl veneer to 2 curved fireplace mantle columns (approx 18" radius) Columns will be approx 9" away from firebox opening, and be quarter round shaped. I am hoping someone has suggestions on type of glue that will withstand heat without delaminating. I plan on purchasing a bag/vaccum pump, and building forms using 3/8 bending ply as the substrate. Maybe 1/8" bending M.D.F. as the direct veneer underlayment. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Jerome,

You will want to use a urea resin glue or epoxy. A PVA glue will get to soft with excess heat.

Jerome:
Darryl's 2nd video on veneering curved surfaces might be very helpful to you. I found it very informative and instructive. It should be available at the home page www.vacupress.com.
