Here at Arched Casings, Inc. we have a customer that needs 16) 3-1/2" inside radius half rounds. The specs for the parts are: 5/8 thick x 5-1/2" tall and like I said above, on a 3-1/2" I.R. using stain grade poplar.
I have access to one of your vacuuming "regular bag" and compressor set up. I need to know what our options are concerning multiple pressings/gluings in order to limit the amount of set ups. Can we produce 4) glue forms and press 4 at a time in the bag? How many can we do at one time? How thin should the veneers be? What advise can you give us.
Thanks, Jerry

Jerry,

If you can use a three ply bending plywood called 1/8" Italian bending poplar, I would make a form long enough to do 4 at once and using 5 sheets, this should be a fairly easy project. If its got to be solid wood, I would use 1/16" poplar veneer and do them individually but still 4 to a form with a small space between each grouping. I would also use a sheet of 3/8" bending ply over the entire group.

The Italian bending poplar will be much easier.

If I can take the liberty of asking two questions that weren't asked . . .

If you need poplar veneer, you might be able to find 1/16" at Certainly Woods.

You might consider a "dry" run to see how quickly you can apply the desired adhesive and get everything in the bag.

Hope it turns out well.

Don
