Subject : How close for ribs in form....

I usually use two layers of 3/8" bending ply when making forms but it would be easier for me on this project to use one layer. My ribs are 3 3/8" apart on a curved form. The actual spaces are 3 3/8". I will be pressing 7 layers of 1/8" bending ply to make a curved panel on this form. Think I can do this or will I get some woopty dos if I don't double up the 3/8" ply.

Can't give you a specific answer, but the topic is covered in detail in Darryl Keil's 2nd video available at www.vacupress.com.

Link,

My general rule is 6" on center with two layers of 3/8" bending ply on the form and 3" on center with one layer of 3/8" bending ply. You are a little farther apart than the 3" rule but probably OK. Do a test by putting your form in the bag with a straight edge on top and see if there is any defection.
