this may be crazy but has anyone come up with a vacuum clamp you could hold a sheet of veneer down "resawn around .100 & then thicknes in ones planer. I have succesfully planed to 1/16" with nice clear poplar but when I tried the highly figured, but sound stock, it started breaking up around .100

Double sided tape onto a board and through the widebelt sander is the way to go.

Mike,

I agree with Anton, there just isnt any way to plane wood that thin, with or without the use of vacuum, and not get tear out. Sanding is really the only answer.
