Has anyone here used this brand "URAC 185" any insite? How is it compared to Unibond 800 if any difference.

I recently veneered a panel with the cold press glue and had some split ends occur, I let it dry for over a week.. oh well I guess I will have to cut the board shorter and use it for another project.

Thanks,

A search on Google found the following link for the glue:
http://www.cytec.com/pdf/URAC185.pdf

From the document, it doesn't sound as if the manufacturer recommends it for veneering, as the document says the glue is "... not intended for general application as a plywood adhesive. ... appropriate application is in gluing of wooden structures ..."

Page,

Urac 185 is fairly similar to Unibond 800. It's a urea formaldehyde resin glue like Unibond 800 is. I think it comes with only one catalyst choice.

Cold press glue is a PVA adhesive which bonds and cures like all PVA's by the removal of moisture from the glue line. Urea's bond and cure by catalyzation, hence a much harder, rigid glue line.

Sincerely
