I am doing drawer fronts with cross banding. Is it better/easier to do the cross banding as an inlay or to fabricate a veneer panel with the banding cut and applied and then glue that to the drawer sustrate?

David,

I think you will find it easier and more successful to attach your short grain border to the main veneer before you press it. This is commonly called a "sketch face".

I'm assuming here that you meant short grain border when you said cross banding since this is usually one of the terms used for the veneer used as a sub layer.

Sincerely

Sketch frame, that's it. Sounds good, thanks
