I need to veneer some half round parts that are on a 3" radius. I ran a test using bag only without a caul and I was not satisfied with the result. Does anyone have an idea what I might use as a caul that would flex to that radius? I was thinking about using some 1/4" sheet cork laminated to a cabinet liner (thin plastic laminate) face. Does anyone have a better idea? Thank you!

Richard,

You need whats called a "flexible bleeder fabric". We have a course weave polyethylene netting called EvacuNet specifically for this purpose if you don't find something locally. Its under accessories on this site.

Richard,

I just reread your message and I was thinking platen not caul. So let me start over. For a good caul that would do a 3" radius I would use 1/8 italian bending poplar. If you cant get that just vertical grade laminate should do the job as well. Another option is 1/32" clear butyrate plastic sheeting.

Sincerely
