Subject : Compact 100 - Dieseling?

My Compact 100 sounds like it is continuing to run, after it is unplugged. Other than that, it is operating fine.

It does not do it every time. But today, it seemed to "diesel" for almost a minute. Is this a portent of impending failure?

Thanks, Carl

Carl,

Hey, if you could get it to go like this for a couple of hours you would never have to plug it in. A perpetual motion Vacupress!

Seriously, I have never heard of such a thing. Is the pump under vacuum when it does this or has the bag been opened?

Sincerely
Darryl Keil

Darryl,

I always unplug before opening the bag. I have not used the press all summer (took a break from woodworking and played with motorcycle & corvette instead. Powdercoating is as much fun as veneer).

It dieseled the first few times, but now after about a dozen runs, it's no longer a perpetual vacuum machine. I get about 23-25 inches of pull with my ratty old, 4 times repaired bag.

I was guessing, that the vacuum from the bag was causing the pump to diesel.

Regards, Carl
