Coincidence can be amazing. A customer this week asked for a proposal for some display stands veneered with olive ash burl. I used a phone conversations with Certainly Wood to learn more about this veneer. The majority of (their) "ash" veneer is actually European ash, not American. The former has a more desirable color and slices somewhat better than the American. "Olive ash burl" is only found on European ash trees, and there is no such thing as "olive ash". Occasionally they have an "ash burl" from American ash, but it does not look at all like "olive ash burl". Finally, "olive" is not used to refer to the source tree but to the general color of the burl.
