Subject : thick veneers on both sides

I am using 1/10 inch thick walnut solid veneers. I need to veneer two panels 36" wide by 85" tall on 3/4 ultralite mdf. The veneers are running the length of the panels. These panels are attached with cleats to the wall, so the back is not seen. These veneers are very expensive and I would prefer not to use them for the back. I am assuming I have to use something. Any suggestions for a replacement for the veneers on the back? Thanks

personally i like to always use the same timber on the back. Why don't you just use some low grade walnut.

Sather,

If you dont want to use the same species thats generally OK, just make sure its the same thickness. The ultimate balance, which I dont usually do is same species, same thickness.

Sincerely
