When flattening veneer using the method I have found throughout this forum, how do you keep ink from transfering from the newspaper to the wet veneer?

When I flattened some resawn walnut crotch, I did not see any ink transfer. Most likely the window screening is thick enough that the ink never comes in contact with the wood.

I've been using newsprint in direct contact with raw, unbacked veneer to dry it out for years, without screen, and had no ink transfer at all. I can't tell you why, it just hasn't.
