I just got a shipment of highly quilted veneer and I have noticed many knife marks running through it apparently where the knife had a nick or something in it. The marks are consistent on both sides. I pressed a small piece to see if I could sand it out and I couldn't, I hit the substrate. Is this common for veneer or did I get some rejects? How do I deal with these marks?

Dear Doug,I have seen knife marks in many veneers, some hardly there and other that would take a bit of scraping and sanding to remove. Ive never had any so bad I sanded through. Thanks Daryl. Actually I took another piece and wet it, then ironed it, and sanded it moist. It appears to be clear, but I won't know til it dries. If this doesn't do it I will talk to the guy. It was a "grab" box so maybe these are cutoffs and that's just what you get.
