I purchased some Unibond 800 with the brown catalyst....I will be veneering some bird's eye maple, & was curious if this glue would be too dark.......should I be using the white cat?

......should I be using the white cat?I would go for the lighter "Hue" by using the white catalyst. Really that's what it's there for those lighter woodsand it is worth using . It gives a yellow-tan cast rather that the light-nutmeg cast of the "normal-issue" catalyst . If there are fissures in the BEM Veneer & edge detail the use of the light cat is highly suggested! In the other direction I've used acrylic dyes to favor the glue's color to paduk , purple heart , Laurel & Walnut . Great glue !! I think they can ship it so you can get it a couple days I think you'll find others who'll say it's worth the wait!To good Glueing !Chris

I recently completed a veneered project. I used maple for my backer, and was not too concerned about the color bleed through of the glue. I used the standard Unibond color (yellow-tan). Although my bleed through was minimal, I did not notice a color mismatch. I do not regret my decision. Not to say you will get the same results.
