Subject : Clamping edgebanding

Darryl,I'm gluing a 3/4" edgeband onto a circle tabletop of MDF.Is UNIBOND-800 neccessary? (I am using U-800 forthe face veneers anyway). How do I clamp the edge?I have a vaccum press & multiple "3-way" edge clamps.Thanks.

Dear Peter,If the edgebanding is going on first and the veneer over the edging I would use Unibond. Thereason for this is if you used a regular white or yellow glue the cold creep would over timepush up against the veneer and you would start to notice it. If the edging is going on afteryou veneer the top its not so important which glue you use.As far as attaching the edging you will have to use clamps, there is really no way to use the vacuum press for that.SincerelyDarryl Keil: Darryl,: I'm gluing a 3/4" edgeband onto a circle tabletop of MDF.: Is UNIBOND-800 neccessary? I also have a question about clamping....I often have to join 3 1/2" corner blocks to 3 1/4" fluted oak, using glue and biscuits. I have always been on the lookout for a 3 way edging clamp that would be big enough to do the job. (I suppose the 3 way edging clamp I'm looking for would have to be at least 4" wide) Unfortunately, the only one I have ever seen is the Jorgensen 2 1/2" 3 way "pony" edging clamp, and various knock offs by other companies.Does anyone know if such a clamp exists? If so, where can I order some?thanks in advance.
