Greetings,I'm not very experienced (yet) with veneer, but I have been thinking about this problem also, as I have to do something similiar in my first large veneer job coming up. In your case would this be totally crazy ?: Cut and edge your panels 1/16 oversize. Then temporarilly assemble them together on a backer board with either dabs of hot melt or glue and paper as in turning or double stick tapeor small brads from the back, etc. Tape up your veneer in one large piece and glue it down in one shot. Cut the whole thing apart, backer and all on the table saw into the individual parts. You try it first and let me know how it works!Steve LevinsonBlaize: When the doors and drawers are pre-edged and the veneer needs to go over the face parts as well I lay everything out and cut the veneer up with a razor knife. When I press it I only leave a 1/16" overhang as not to loose the continuity between parts when its all assembled. Thats the way I do it at least.: As far as glue on the edge banding joint. Scrape and sand, or if you have a wide belt sander thats a nice solution.: Frank Pollaro: : : we do a lot of cabinets with many drawer and door faces with the : : veneer running through several drawers vertically and matched side to : : side over several fronts and onto the cabinet face as well. we : : edgeband first and then come up with different methods to align the : : panels when we veneer them. anyone have ideas on methods of alignment : : and or removal of glue from face of edgband? i am not willing to : : veneer large panels first and then edgeband.
