Dear Lou,You can do it either way, but I highly recommend laying the whole thing up is one pressing, called a sketch face. This is the traditional way it is done and the way I do it. I think youwill find it much easier this way rather than trying to piece in your border afterwards.Be aware that if you press it up as a sketch face and the border veneer is thinner or thickerthan the main field, be sure to use a sheet of 1/32" or 1/16" rubber between the veneer andyour cover sheet. This will take up the difference in thickness and give you a sucessful pressing.SincerelyDarryl Keil: I would like some advice about how lay up a veneered section that I am working on. Essentially it is a drawer face and table top that consists of walnut burl which covers the entire face except for the last 1/2 inch which is covered with a herringbone pattern. Should I try to cover the entire surface first and then remove the veneer and add the herringbone border ( for a second pressing ) or should I try to assemble the entire face with the border and do one pressing?: thanks : lou sansone
