No matter which glue you go with, PVA or contact cement, be sure to thoroughly scuff the surface, 80 grit on an orbital ought to do fine. If you haven't bought your veneer yet, paper backed would yield better results if you decide to go the contact cement route.: I have a home office with two built-in desks, bookshelves, and a credenza—all made out of white melamine. I would like to veneer over at least some : of it to get rid of the white, hard-edged look. Some people have told me I can't do it; others that I can. I suspect the issue is the type of glue. I : gather that pva glues will not work but others might. Would contact cement work? In short, can I apply veneer to melamine, and, if so, what : problems should I be aware of? Thanks so much and Happy Holidays. Paul
