Greetings: When ordering honeycomb for use in bending an eliptical top on a cabinet, Dan indicated that I should turn down the vacuum press to avoid collapse of this substrate. What level of pressure should this be reduced to? Secondly, I thought I was ordering resin impregnated material (Per price sheet)but the order came delivered as cardboard honeycomb. Am I missing something or did I not communicate what I wanted. I am using 10 mil paper backed Cherry top/bottom with the honeycomb. Will Unibond react to this veneer? Should I use West Epoxy instead?

Dear Jeff,You should turn down the vacuum pressure to around 15HG for pressing the honeycomb. Once it has been pressed and dried you can then turn it back to full pressure to apply the veneer. Your honeycomb is resin impregnated, raw paper honeycomb is considerably weaker, we never carry unimpregated honeycomb. Since you are using paper backed veneer there is no possibility of the glue reacting with the veneer.SincerelyDarryl Keil: Greetings: When ordering honeycomb for use in bending an eliptical : top on a cabinet, Dan indicated that I should turn down the vacuum : press to avoid collapse of this substrate. :Jeff, I just glued an oval last evening, I used two 3/4" mdf instead of 1/2" and used full pressure (didn't know about lowering it) It went great! Maybe I was lucky.
