Subject : crotch mahogany

What is the cause of checking and/or cracks on a table top made with crotch mahogany and already finished. How can this be prevented.I have a small factory in the Philippines and use crotch and swirl mahogany for all my table tops.I do my own veneering. Would appreciate any tips.

Of all the veneers this one checks more that any other I have ever worked with. Although completely eliminating all checking is very difficult with mahogany crotch I find that using urea resin glue does the best to minimize it as it is the most rigid glue you can get.SincerelyDarryl Keil
