I will be attempting my first veneer job in the very near future and need a few questions answered. I will be making six cabinet panels on 1/4" AAA grade cherry plywood 14 1/2" x 28 1/2". I will be placing an 11" x 25" veneer of lacewood centered on the panel borderd by a 1 3/4" veneer strip of sapeli mitered at the corners creating aframed appearance. Question 1). Do I cut and glue up both the lacewood and sapelli at the same time, or do I first cut and glue just the centered lacewood, let dr and then follow up with the sapeli border? Question 2). Where is the best place to buy my exotic hardwood veneers? Question3). I'm interested in purchasing a vaccum press for small jobs as described (I am a wood artist and craftsman for fun and enjoyment with 2 years experience, but its not my career) so I therefore looking for an affordable press. Any suggestions and compariable prices? Many thanks in advance.Michael

Michael,As far as your veneer goes, tape up the two species together and press the entire panel up at once.Check certainlywood.com or flamingoveneer.com for your veneer. We sell a small affordable vacuum press that will press up to 49"x 49" panels which is $298. You can check it out on the vacupress.com web site under Compact 100 in the products section. You can get there from the bottom of this forum.Good luck with your veneering project.SincerelyDarryl Keil: I will be attempting my first veneer job in the very near future and : need a few questions answered.
