: : I just received my first ever shipment of veneer and all the leaves : : are split in about 12" on one end. This occured on the end that was : : on the outside of the roll so I'm wondering if this could be classed as : : shipping damage? Or, could it be a characteristic of Mahogany?: Sorry, more to add here:: All the possible causes aside. I have to deal with these splits. Can I just carefully glue them down without any repercussions? Or, will I get glue seepage?: : Regards,: Dan Dan, It is not uncommon for veneer to arrive with the split ends, sometimes just handling the veneer in the shop will cause the ends to split. My solution for this is to apply a strip of veneer tape the width of the veneer on one side of each end of the veneer as soon as I get it, in the case of veneer already split, you cand hold the split ends together with masking tape until the veneer tape has dried, then remove the masking tape and this really helps, Hope this helps, John.
