Subject : Dealing with split ends?

I just received my first ever shipment of veneer and all the leaves are split in about 12" on one end. This occured on the end that was on the outside of the roll so I'm wonder if this could be classed as shipping damage? Or, could it be a characteristic of Mahogany?

Or, will I get glue seepage?Regards,Dan

My solution for this is to apply a strip of veneer tape the width of the veneer on one side of each end of the veneer as soon as I get it, in the case of veneer already split, you cand hold the split ends together with masking tape until the veneer tape has dried, then remove the masking tape and this really helps, Hope this helps, John.
