I need to laminate somewhat large, 40 inches x 60 inches, panels together. It will consist of a panel of ¾ inch MDF laminated face to face to a ¾ inch veneer core plywood panel. My question is, will a vacuum press (“VC”) be able to provide the right amount and proper placement of clamping pressure. If a VC can provide the right pressure, are there any specifics to pressing large thick panels (i.e. avoiding air trapped between them, etc., etc.). Looking forward to seeing you at the IWE in Fort Washington, PA. next week. Thanks,Joe

Joe,No special requirements at all for laying up sheet goods. Just roll the glue and press, thats it. I do have one issue with your composition though. I dont know how you will be using the completed panel but a sheet of mdf glued to a sheet of plywood may warp some. Its not really a balanced panel, something to think about.SincerelyDarryl Keil: I need to laminate somewhat large, 40 inches x 60 inches, panels : together. Darryl,I plan to use the lamination as a work table top. I think it will be ok as it will attached to the table frame. Would be interested in any other recommnedations.Regards,Joe: Joe,: No special requirements at all for laying up sheet goods. Just roll the glue and press, thats it.
