Subject : Vacupress troubleshooting tips

I'm having trouble with my vacupress. I thought there were holes in the bag, but when I turn on the vacuum and hold my hand against it there is no suction.

I took the cover off the unit, no hoses are clogged or kinked. Are there any other steps I could take to troubleshoot the unit myself without having it professionally repaired?
