Subject : When to use and how to use two-ply veneer

I have some beautiful African Mahogany crotch veneer that I wish to place on a tabletop I made of two sheets of 1/2 MDF and 1 sheet of honey comb with a 3/4 '" radius with the veneer rolling over and around the front edge. I believe that I'll need two pressings, one for the flat top and one for roll over the edge. I am lead to believe that I will need two ply veneer to achieve this, My question is: do I need the ply to be at right angles which might be difficult to roll and glue. Or. do I line the ply in a parallel fashion so that the rollover is more compliant but might be more fragile?

Thanks for any helpful hints and stories.

It is best to run your backer veneer 90 degrees to the face one but for a 3/4" radius its just not going to bend. In fact I doubt running both veneers the same way will be flexible enough. I think you will have to do both layers individual to achieve the bend you want.
