I want to make a flat plate laminate of veneer core with carbon fiber top and bottom to serve as a rigid shoe insert. Maximum thickness 1/8" or less. It is to insure the shoe does not bend at the ball of the foot. This is for temporary use while healing from foot surgery. I have experience vacuum veneering wood but not carbon fiber. Does anyone know if this is feasible? Is a core necessary? If this works for me I can sell these to my Doctor on a custom order basis. Thanks, Robert.

Yes its possible, impregnate carbon fiber with epoxy and press it flat or otherwise it will be very brittle so you may want some kevlar in there too to hold it together but fiberglass will do it too, wax a meltica/melamine board and use peelply if you want on both sides, if you use a holey plastic over it all then some dry fiberglass the fiberglass will absorb any excess resin that bleeds through the holey plastic and will separate with ease.
What ever you use it will need to be multy directional as in a box weave carbon and glass but no need for the veneer.
