I glued up a large (6'x9') two ply for the bottom of a torsion box and left it in the bag over night. The bleed through was minimal yet the top melamine board was really stuck hard, I actually tore several dime size spots out of it. It's the first I've used the new green formula uni bond. The old never stuck like that, so I figured I'd wax and take the next glue up out after glue set up. So I did the top two ply, left it in the bag 5 hr's @ 75 degrees and took it out, making sure that the left over glue had set firm. and dang if it wasn't stuck, but it did come apart OK. The top was a 12 piece burl with sapele border. Left it out of vacuum but between cauls over night. Come morning and the whole thing was delaminated. Luckily for me I was able to save the very expensive burls by careful prying with a drywall knife. I'm planning to rejoin the burls, but not sure whether to scuff sand the old glued edge and re-glue it, or if it would be better to flip it over, glue the fresh side and sand dried glue off the old face after glue up. I want a good bond this time so I'll use a plastic sheet between and plan to leave it bagged till glue is rock hard. Want are your thoughts?
