First, make sure the brass fitting goes up into the platen board so there is no stress or pulling on the broken nipple. Then I would get some, I think its called "Mortite Caulk" from a hardware store. Its kind of a sticky putty meant for temporarily sealing up gaps in old windows.
Take a small amount of the stuff and mush it all around the nipple and brass fitting so the caulk completely cover the nipple area. This should get you by.
