Subject : Why 2 jars on VacuPress?
Posted : 2011-06-02 12:47 PM
Post #36385

I have the standard VacuPress. On the back of the VacuPress, there are two jars. One Jar is the filter jar. The maintenance manual make it clear the purpose of the filter jar and how it fits into the maintenance schedule. The other jar is empty, and I can not find where it is mentioned in the manual. After many uses, the jar has not collected any dust except for a a slight amount of very fine black dust. What is this jar for, and how does it fit into the maintenance schedule?
Thanks,

Arthur,

It is nothing more than a fancy muffler. Without it the pump would be quite loud. The black dust is a little of the carbon vanes wearing as they spin in the chamber. There is nothing you need to do with this jar. Only the intake jar should be cleaned periodically.
