Subject : Veneering Thin Aluminum Sheet Over Plywood

I need a surface for painting on some furniture I'm making and am considering bonding thin aluminum sheet metal over birch plywood. Railroad car doors used to be made this way in the 1930's through fifties. It was a product called Plymetal.

Would the Unibond 800 work okay for this in the press?

Also, I would need to route 1/8" X 1/8" grooves into this for decorative strips. Any suggestions on doing this?

David,

Unibond 800 will not stick properly to aluminum. You will need epoxy for this job.
