Subject : What does a high barometric do to my vaccum pressure.

My elevation is 5,380ft and right now the barometer is at 29.71 and rising. I had purchased a Venturi air powered vacuum press and with my elevation on a low pressure day I can draw 18" Hg. Now with the increase of pressure I can only draw 15" Hg. My question is, "Is this to be expected on high pressure days?"

Yes, barometric pressure does affect vacuum levels but not anywhere near what you are getting so I'm not sure what's going on in your case. You may want to check the barometric pressure over the next week or two and test your pump at the highs and lows to see if its consistent with what you got previously.

Bottom line, the fluctuation you are getting will not affect pressing quality so I wouldn't be too concerned about it.
