I’m veneering onto Kerfore for a bent application. Kerfcore consistent of spaced strips of mdf held together with an impregnated layer of paper. The veneer is applied to the paper not the mdf. Instructions call for the use of a backer veneer between the face veneer and paper.

I’m going to be using a thick veneer (about a 1/16 inch) and would like to eliminate the use of the backer veneer.

If I glue up and sample and bend it to shape and I do not get the MDF telegraphing thru after a week or so am I in good shape, or can he telegraphing through come at a later date. When installed the lay-up will be vertical.

Thanks

Howard

Howard,

The original kerfcore you are talking about is not meant for veneering but for plastic laminate or other stiffer materials.

I would use one of their other products like Econocore. One that has a wood or MDF face.
