Subject : Undersized veneer on bottom

I will be pressing two ply veneer on both faces of curved panels with a 16' radius. The panels are two pcs. of 3/8 bending ply ( 3/4" ), a max. of 42" L X 25" W. Will I run in to trouble if the bottom veneer is shorter / narrower than the panel, i.e. will the panel bend / break? The combined thickness of the two ply is .048"

That depends, how much less is the veneer than the panel?
