Subject : Tapered plywood lamination

I saw a coffee table in a book with wide curved bases,obviously veneered. The description said the "legs" were a "tapered baltic birch lamination". That's a new one to me. Can anyone tell me how you would taper bb for a lamination. I'm guessing a sled through a thickness sander would be the only way.
They looked like they were about 16"-18" wide by about 20' high, tapered from top to bottom.

My guess agrees with yours. And if so, and the tapered result were to be veneered, I'd suggest a two ply to minimize telegraphing of the exposed plies through the show veneer face.
