I'm starting a job with a new style of door 'for us'.
It is a flat pre-wood banded mdf panel that is then veneered over both faces and lastly edge routed.
I'm considering pressing the veneer 'in shop' and would like input on using a vacuum bag for the veneering. I'll be using the '800' low temp 2 part urea glue.
Will this be an efficient way to produce 60 -70, 2 sided panels?
And can the panels be veneered on both side at once?
Will stacking same sized panels create same pressure between layers?
How long do we expect to leave in press at a given temp.
Do vacuum bags give sufficient and even pressure across wide panels
Thanks for any help from commercial shop owners or managers

Frank,

The quickest and most efficient way to press 60-70 panels is with a hot press but thats an expensive piece of equipment to purchase if you dont plan on doing this all the time.

I always recommend pressing both sides at the same time and stacking panels will give you equal pressure throughout. Vacuum gives completely consistent pressure no matter how big the panel is.

As far as pressing times with urea resin glue, this will vary considerably depending on room temperature. At 65 degrees expect around 5 hours for pressing, at 90 degrees expect about 1 hour.
