We are going to veneer flat panel doors for a built-in wardrobe. The doors will be 15 inches wide and 91 inches tall with a thickness of 3/4 to 1 inch thick. What substrate would be recommended to keep the door from warping. Would resin impregnated honeycomb core or MDF core be appropriate?
Thank you for your input.

I would say that your choice should be driven by how heavy you want the door to be...both materials will stay flat.

A 4' x 8' x 3/4" sheet of MDF is a little under 100 lbs, so if your door is 15 x 91 then your door made out of MDF will be in the ballpark of 30 lbs, or so. That's pretty beefy. And then if you went with 1" thick, than add around 30% to that.

Honeycomb would obviously be much much lighter...that's the whole purpose of the material.

You could also look into ultra-light MDF if you are looking for a weight that's somewhere in between (but still fairly heavy).

Both will stay flat...there's a little more work to using honeycomb as a substrate, but it's no biggie. I would let the desired weight make your decision.
