I need to make some fairly small (14" x 20" panels to fit in solid wood frames as sides of a bedside table. I have some high quality 1/4" birch ply and want to veneer it with tiger maple veneer - not paper backed - solid wood. I was going to use PVA. Any reason not to?

Doug,

I think you would be fine with PVA given the description you laid out. Small panels on the side of a cabinet, in a frame, go for it.

Sincerely
