I heard from a friend that you need to be careful using Bird's eye maple i.e. if you put it on the wrong way the eyes can fall out. Is there a right and wrong side to BE veneer? (For some reason if feel a strong tug on my leg -- anyone seen my board stretcher?) J.

Got this from either a previous post on the forum or out of a veneering book.

"... The eyes in this veneer have tapered sides, like a funnel. Because of this tapered shape, they shift slightly towards one side of the veneer, and feel like tiny bumps or peaks. If they continued shifting in this direction, they could eventually pop out of the veneer. Always glue the peaks side to the substrate to lock the eyes in permanently."
