whether you use a urea glue like Unibond 800 or a PVA is up to you, both will work for your application. The PVA squeeze out will not dry in the bag as this excess glue has nothing to absorb into. With a bent lamination I usually let it sit in the press overnight for minimum spring back although you can get by with a couple of hours.
PVA glue will not cure in the bag but it will bond just fine. The cure phase of this glue requires air circulation for moisture removal. Bonding only requires pressure and porous surfaces for the glue to penetrate into.
I would never say you are dead wrong using a PVA, its a matter of knowing when you should upgrade to a catalytic glue like urea resin. A lot of this "knowing" comes from experience. One solution is whenever you're in doubt use a urea glue. At least this way you're always on the safe side. Bent laminations in general do not require the same level of glue line rigidity as veneer does making PVA an acceptable glue.
